CNN Projects Hillary Takes Puerto Rico but Obama Will Win Nomination

Not a surprise but still disappointing, CNN has projected HRC won the Puerto Rico Primary  though they have yet to post the margin of victory.

Nonetheless, the win does little do impact Team Obama’s considerable lead in delegates.

With the recent ruling of the delegates in Michigan and Florida, the magic number needed to seize the nomination is now 2,118 - of which Obama is 63.5 away from reaching.

Stay tuned for more updates as the story develops.

  1. Pedro Said,

Obama is 49.5 away from the nomination after the P.R primary and probably get a couple more endorsments tonight too.

  2. Administrator Said,

I was going by the number posted on the Obama HP which- at the time of posting was 126.5- but now has switch to 63.5.

Your probably right that he’s 49.5 (and definetly will get more tonight) but amidst the many figures floating about I thought it’d be safe to just stick to his HQ number.

  3. kathy kreis Said,

pls explain why and how puerto rico is voting in the primary. some of us truely do not understand.

  4. Pedro Said,

41.5 now left, tomorrow the news said he would get about 34 delegates more, then he’ll just need about 7 more. That would be Dean, Pelosi and Pelosi have her team of super-delegates that will go with her. We got this! It’s over tomorrow night or Wednesday morning. OBAMA 08!!!!

  5. Administrator Said,

    Kathy-

Puerto Rico is described as a ‘Commonwealth’ but since Puerto Rico is an unincorporated territory and not a U.S. state, the U.S. Constitution does not enfranchise U.S. citizens residing in Puerto Rico for general presidential elections. Which is silly because an American residing in France can vote for President but an American residing in PR cannot. So here are just some of the reasons why they get to vote in the primary:

#1: Puerto Ricans ARE American Citizens- since 1917- and have participated in ALL U.S. wars since 1898. They carry the same U.S. passport, use the same U.S. currency and US mail system as any other “American.”

#2: Puerto Ricans DO pay taxes. Aside from local, property and sales, Puerto Ricans also pay taxes toward Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and other income generated from a US income source. Others pay Federal Income Tax from similar sources, including Soldiers and the Federal Employees, i.e. USDA, Federal Courts, FBI, Customs, FDA, VA Hospital, Satellite Clinics, Retired Veterans, INS, USDOT, Coast Guard, etc. No Taxation Without Representation, remember?

#3: Federal laws apply to Puerto Rico. Same Federal courts, and many of the same Federal agencies.

#4: Per capita, Puerto Rico has more active duty forces in Iraq and Afghanistan than any other U.S. state except Nevada. If you can Die you should Decide baby.

    hope this help a little
